What’s Does Individual Therapy involve?
Individual therapy offers an opportunity for people to talk through challenges they are facing in a private and confidential context with a licenced professional. Through this process, they may learn more about the nature of their challenges, identify the roots & contributing factors for patterns they’d like to change, and learn skills and strategies for navigating the difficulties they are facing.
My Approach
I’m so glad you’re here! Reaching out for support is one of the first steps towards making positive changes in your life. My name is Kira and I use she/her pronouns. I think it’s important that we understand wellness through a whole-person lens; including our environmental context & intersectional realities. My work tends to focus on treating trauma, including a variety of complex challenges such as Anxiety, Depression, C-PTSD, PTSD, Childhood Trauma/Attachment Trauma, Self-Esteem issues and Relationship Conflict.
I believe that you are ultimately the expert of your own experience, and my role is to support you in accessing your inherent wisdom and natural ability to heal. I strive to provide my clients with information, tools, and most importantly compassion while they navigate their challenges.
My Credentials
I am a licensed psychotherapist and Certified EMDR Therapist practising on Treaty 1 Territory in Winnipeg, Canada. I have a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Western Ontario (conferred in 2017) and am currently working solely in private practice. I have over 10 years of counselling and psychotherapy experience in variety of community health, academic, and private contexts.
Today, I specialize in treating post-traumatic stress and complex-trauma using an integrative combination of EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, Attachment Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Compassion Focused therapeutic approaches.
What to Expect?
FIRST THING
If you are interested in working together, first we can connect for a free 30-minute consultation call (virtual or phone). This meeting gives me a chance to learn a little bit more about what you’re looking for support with, and it gives you an opportunity to ask me any questions you might have. It also gives us both a chance to see if it feels like a good fit to work together prior to booking any appointments.
1
SECOND THING
If we both agree to move forward, there are no minimum or maximum number of sessions that you are required to commit to, and the frequency of how often we meet will be determined by what it is that you are needing support with.
2
THIRD THING
Sessions are 50-minutes long, and can be accessed in-person, virtually, or by phone. Clients are welcome to end services at any time for any reason.
3
READY TO CHAT?
Even if you aren’t quite sure if therapy is right for you, the best way to move forward is to book a free consultation and we can chat through your options together to find the best path forward together.

My standard rate is $150.00 per 50-minute session.
I do try to be as flexible as possible so that cost is less of a barrier, especially for folks who do not have insurance coverage or are on a fixed income. In these instances, I’m sometimes able to offer a sliding-scale. This is offered on a first-come first-served basis.
Please note that currently all of my sliding-scale and pro bono spots are filled.
